F as in FOOT
The lower extremity leg that is in direct
contact with the ground in standing or walking.
A foot or feet is also a unit of length.
There are many quotations with the word foot. For example, “better slip with the foot
than with the tongue”; “parents who are afraid to put their foot
down usually have children who step on their toes”; “dancing is the poetry of
the foot.”
Our feet are one of the most important features of the
human body as we need them to walk, stand, run, and dance. They carry our weight, so if we want to be
kind to them, we have to try not to let them carry too much, right?
For some strange reason, we are not willing to invest in our feet
as much as we do in our faces -- shoe
shopping excluded, of course! Is
this because other people see more of our face than of our feet? If this is the case, let me tell you, this is
the wrong approach!
In the NIMBLE
method you learn how your whole body is connected and how everything starts
with your feet. If THEY are unhappy, YOU are unhappy! Think about a long day where you have to
stand around a lot. How do you
feel? Have you ever watched a person
wearing shoes that are too small? You
can tell how miserable she is just by looking at her face!
It is interesting that as we get older, a lot of people find
that when they buy shoes, they need a bigger size than when they were much
younger. Why is this? Because, of course, our feet bear our weight for a longer
time, get flatter, wider, and this results in the need for a larger size. Often you also you move from Medium to Wide
in width. Most of us even have one foot
bigger than the other because we do not distribute our weight evenly.
Have said this, it is crucial that you start to appreciate
what your feet
are doing for you. Like everything in life, nothing comes for free; there is
always an exchange. If you’re nice to
me, I’ll be nice to you. I promise I
will take better care of my feet by doing some exercises to keep them in good
shape, healthy and happy!
Leonardo Da Vinci said:
“The feet
are a masterpiece of engineering and a work of art.”
Treat them like this and you will be rewarded!
