Q like Quadriceps

Q as in Quadriceps

Quadriceps femoris muscle is the full name of a large fleshy muscle group covering the front and sides of the thigh.  It has four parts which originate at the hipbone and thighbone, and come together in a tendon surrounding the kneecap, and are attached to the shinbone.  These muscles extend the legs at the knee and are important for standing, walking, and almost all activities involving the legs.  It is one of the most important muscles of the human body.
The hamstring and quadriceps muscle groups are particularly at risk for muscle strains because they cross both the hip and knee joints.  They are also used for high-speed activities, such as track and field events (running, hurdles, long jump), football, basketball, and soccer.
Once a muscle strain occurs, the muscle is vulnerable to reinjury; therefore, it is important to let the muscle heal properly and to follow preventive protocols.
So stretching is very important before and after you exercise.  Here is the most common one.
Standing on one leg, raise your other foot behind you, bending your knee.  You want to pull your foot as close to your buttocks as possible.  Use your right hand to hold your right foot.  To deepen this stretch, use the opposite hand to hold your foot.  If necessary, hold onto a wall or chair to maintain your balance.  Repeat this stretch on both sides of your body.

NIMBLE helps you strengthen your thigh muscles all day long when correctly sitting down, getting up, climbing stairs, etc.
