J like Joint

as in Joint

A joint or articulation is the location at which bones are connected. They are constructed to allow movements.

Of course we also know about a joint as a slang term for a marijuana cigarette, but we are not talking about that today!

There are several different joints , and here are a few examples:

Ball and socket joint like our shoulder.
Ellipsoid joint like our wrist.
Hinge joint (similar to the movement of a door hinge) like our elbow.
Pivot joint  allows rotation, for example, of our head between the first and second cervical vertebrae.

In some ways your body and your car have similar characteristics.  One of these similarities is the fact that when parts move, they need to be greased.  Moving parts need to be stopped from rubbing together in order to eliminate friction.  To protect your car you use motor oil.  In your body you use synovial fluid (body grease).  The basic ingredient in the creation of synovial fluid is hyaluronic acid.

In the human body, hyaluronic acid helps to grease all membranes (the membranes around the heart, lungs, muscles and eyes) and the cartilage of joints.

There are several ways to increase this grease in your joints.  You can take glucosamine, essential fatty acids, grape seed extract, MSM and more.

Another easy way is to use the NIMBLE method. It is known that doing exercises which use small movements can increase synovial fluid -- just the opposite of big movements that consume synovial fluid.

So what are you waiting for?
